Children's Privacy Notice
Última atualização em 2026-10-08
1. Who TapStory is for
TapStory is designed for families with children aged about 3 to 8. Accounts are held by adults. Children use TapStory through the adult's account and under adult supervision. Creating, personalising and sharing stories is always started or approved by the adult.
We do not knowingly allow children under 13 (or the age of digital consent in your country, which may be up to 16) to create their own accounts. If we learn that a child has created an account, we delete it and the associated information.
This Notice supplements our Privacy Policy and is written with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR and similar laws in mind. Effective date: 2026-10-08.
2. What information about a child we may process
Only what a parent or guardian chooses to provide. This may include:
- a first name or nickname and an age band, so a story can star the child;
- a photo of the child, if the adult chooses to create a character that looks like them;
- a short recording of the child's voice, if the adult chooses to let a character speak with it;
- a story idea the child speaks or types in the children's interface, and the resulting story.
A spoken story idea is deleted once it has been turned into text. A photo or voice recording is deleted when the adult deletes the character. We do not ask children for contact details, location, or any other personal information, and the children's interface has no chat, comments or messaging.
3. Parental consent
Before any photo or voice recording of a real person is captured, the app asks the adult to read a short notice explaining what is collected, what it is used for and how to delete it, and to hold a button for three seconds to confirm. We record who confirmed, when, and which version of this Notice was shown. By confirming, the adult account holder confirms that they are the child's parent or legal guardian and consents to our processing that information to provide TapStory, as described here and in the Privacy Policy. If you are not the parent or guardian, do not provide information about the child.
You can withdraw consent at any time by deleting the character (its photo and voice recording are deleted with it) or by asking us to delete it (section 5).
4. How we use it
We use information about a child only to create and play the stories the adult asks for, to keep the Service safe, and to show the family their own bookshelf.
- No advertising of any kind, and no behavioural profiling.
- No sale or rental of children's information.
- No public disclosure of a child's information. Sharing is only through links the adult creates and can revoke.
- No use of children's information to train AI models.
- A child's photo and voice are used only for stories in the account that provided them, and are sent to our AI providers only to draw that character or synthesise that voice (Privacy Policy, section 4).
- No third-party analytics or tracking in the children's interface.
Content generated for children passes through safety guidance and automated moderation designed for young audiences. Please still review stories before sharing them with a child.
5. Parents' and guardians' rights
At any time you can review what we hold about your child, ask us to correct or delete it, or refuse further collection, without affecting the rest of your account. Deleting a personalised character from the character library or the parent corner deletes its photo and voice recording; for anything else, e-mail support@tapstory.ai from your account's e-mail address. We verify that you are the account holder before acting and respond within 30 days.
