Before your first story
Frequently asked questions
The essentials before you create your first story.
Does my family need the app?
No. Every playable story opens directly in a modern browser on phone, tablet, or computer.
Can I share a story with grandparents?
Yes. A published story can be opened from one link, without asking your family to install an app.
How does my child become part of the story?
You choose the family characters and the story idea before TapStory creates the illustrated book.
Can our characters stay consistent across pages?
TapStory uses the character choices attached to the story so the same cast can remain recognizable from page to page.
Is narration included?
Stories can include narration and page timing, so children can listen and follow along in the browser.
What ages is TapStory designed for?
The first experience is designed for families with children ages 3–8, with adults controlling creation and sharing.
How is a book priced if my story is short?
Creation is priced by its final illustrated pages plus a base allowance for story planning, character references and the cover. A short story uses less than a 30-page book. You confirm the page count and charge before illustrations and narration begin. Creation checkout is not open yet.
Will every story be 20–30 pages?
Page count follows the plot. A richer story can unfold across 20–30 illustrated pages; a simple idea may need fewer. The cover is not counted; pricing follows the actual number of story pages.
Can I revise a page that doesn't look right?
Yes. Inspect pages in the immersive canvas, select an illustration, and describe what should change before regenerating that page. You can also adjust a character's look. Editing story text and plot directly on a page is still in development.
